Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

All I want for Christmas is (don't worry, I have my 2 front teeth ;-)...., - An affordable healthy meal - Which is tasty and naturally colorful - And filling (none of those 'powdered' or 'energy bar' meal replacements) - Which holds the option of hormone free meat (for all the carnivores out there) - And comes in recyclable containers for food on the go! - Oh, and lastly, has good business practices So who is this socially responsible eatery? You guessed it! Chipotle!!! I love this place but the State Street location in Ann Arbor will be your biggest obstacle for eating on the go during a time crunch. Throughout the university academic year, it is packed for lunch and dinner. Sometimes the line is out the door with hungry students which is unforgiving when you have a 1pm meeting to catch. I've been there more than once where they have run out of items too. But on the plus size, the food is fantastic and you'd be hard pressed to find anything more affordable on State Street. The staff is friendly and work non-stop to keep the line going. Even though it's a chain, I've made friends with Jasmine (one of the workers) which makes it feel more 'local'. I'll continue eating at Chipotle but sneak in when the students are on break. From mid-December til the second week in January is their 'slow' time if you're interested.

First off, it's chipotle. So, obviously it's purely amazing. However, compared to other Chipotles the quality and service is subpar. The store is constantly understaffed, leading to shoddily prepared ingredients. Additionally, the staff is completely careless. Once I had a cashier that was on a personal call at the register. Another time the employee near the end of the line asked another employee to switch with him because he didn't "like rolling burritos". Why are you working there? And more importantly why were you hired? This store is terribly mismanaged and lowers the standing of the franchise.

Disappointing experience. Our burrito and veggie bowl were smaller than typical Chipotle meals. As we looked around at the tables near us, our items were significantly rationed. We suspect a new or flustered employee made our meals. Customer service was adequate but nothing to write home about. Despite this, the food was delicious which saves the restaurant from getting a single star. 2/5 stars for this location.

I love the spices that they use I always take steak and it is delicious And their website is good You can also order online and pick it up
(5)Mini P.
The food is always good, although they need to do something about cleaning the tables more often and empty the trash.

food is good - usual Chipotle kind. I asked for no rice and more veggies instead and they couldnt do it - seems stupid to me. Service was TERRIBLE. we waited at the front of the line for 3 minutes before getting served. When the lady finally took our order, she preferred we rather not be there - her whole attitude was so dismissive. And she couldnt speak up - hard to hear her above the music and the glass barrier - when I said "we cant hear you" she got really annoyed and gave us even more attitude!!
(3)Maddie P.
Job well done on orders that are made in advance! I got there and my order was all ready. I just walked up to the pick up window and paid. It was so fast!

one needs to understand that chipotle serves *san francisco-style* burritos. in sf's mission district there're a number of (awesome) taquerias that serve food that are very mexican but at the same time also not all precisely what you would call "authentic" mexican food that you'd find in mexico...but the food at these places are just plain awesome (especially the steak and prawn burritos), the best of which imo is pancho villa. anyhow, chipotle kinda aims to rip those places off with their big fat burritos, and for the most part it's pretty tasty. it's not really authentic mexican food, but it's tasty like ny pizza, which is tasty but not authentically italian (but authentically new york). i probably like this place better than btb. i don't want to, but i probably do. btb seems to me overpriced and very average; last time i went there my burrito was pretty small, quite expensive, and the stuff inside was cold! at least i know when i come to chipotle, it'd be consistently good. oh and sf burritos are all wrapped in tinfoil. they are, however, usually longer and skinnier, and more tightly packed, than chipotle's

Fast and good food. No wireless though! :(

Chipotle makes fantastic burritos that are certainly better than most burrito places on campus. Combined with its location, this fact certainly makes Chipotle a great choice for any Michigan student looking to grab a quick bite or share a meal with friends.
(4)Guillermo K.
Yes, I have experienced much better burritos. But have I experienced better Chipotle? Not really. Two stars.
(2)Kathryn L.
This Chipotle location is phenomenal! The food is delicious and everything can be customized. You can order your entree in a wheat or white burrito shell or in a bowl, if you don't want the carbs. The only reason this place gets four stars instead of five is the pricing. Extra charge for guacamole. And no combo options; if you feel like ordering a burrito and a drink, the pricing is a la carte.
(4)Ryan D.
I love Chipotle. I am a big big fan. I would love a Chipotle out in the Dexter/Chelsea area. Good food, good price.
(4)Anthony S.
I usually don't like reviewing chains, but for this Chipotle, I'm making an exception. No one thinks, "I'd like a light lunch today. Oh, Chipotle would be perfect for that!" No. One. People go to Chipotle when they want to eat a huge burrito and leave 2 pounds heavier than when they came in. This, quite sadly, was not my experience here. See the attached picture of my burrito bowl. Sad looking, right?! I love Chipotle, and while I enjoyed my meal here, this location just seems to be known for smaller portions.
(2)Liz P.
Eh. Chipotle is Chipotle. I prefer Qdoba but I was in town for a film fest and I don't think there's one downtown (?) or at least not in that area. I had the 3 chicken tacos, soft shell, with salsa and rice. I do LOVE their cilantro rice, it's very good. This Chipotle was fast and efficient, and the price is right (about $6.70 for chicken tacos) but there was no place to sit ... I had to wait a few minutes for some people to leave. I'd come back when in the area and in the mood for a fast meal.
(3)Suzanne B.
This place is disgusting. The staff is rude and preoccupied and the restaurant is filthy! There is food splattered all over the area where you choose your toppings. Garbage on the floor, napkins, forks, chip bags tossed about under tables. Table were smeared, not clean! Yuck!!! NEVER going back to this location
(1)Nicholas K.
A great Chipotle location, the service is very reliable with the exception of those insane rush hour times when all of the college campus absolutely craves Chipotle at the same time. If you happen to be infected at the time with the "Chipotle crave", then be prepared to wait in very long lines, take your food to-go, contribute to the mountainous, overflowing piles of fluffy aluminum wrappings in the trash, as well as awkwardly asking the cashier for napkins and/or utensils... perhaps it's due to their limited staff during those times that they cannot attend to them. Either ways, again, this is a great location and thankfully one of the less stingy ones in giving portions.
(3)Jenny C.
I am conflicted as how to rate this establishment. One the one hand, the food is wonderful. As many can probably agree, the food is very well seasoned and tastes amazing. However, it is often extremely crowded, and more than once, I have received rice that was undercooked. In fact, when I ordered a bowl today, the rice was so undercooked that I thought I broke a tooth when I bit down. So much of it was undercooked that it pretty much ruined the entire bowl - uncooked rice mixed with other ingredients makes the entire mixture unappetizingly "crunchy".
(3)Marzuq H.
Pros: - Quality of food - Quantity of food - Value (Price for quality + quantity) - Happy employees - Speed of service Cons: - Back up of the queue during peak hours - Lack of seating during peak hours Best Fit: - Quick meal - Longer meal during off peak hours - Take out

I LOVE my Chipotle, and as long as I get my food, I'm a happy camper. I'm really impressed by how quick I was able to get through the line and with my food. The only problem is that the place is so dang loud! With the music on top of the customers in the restaurant, I was afraid the servers couldn't hear me. Another problem is that sometimes the place is packed (I went on a Friday afternoon), so you might need to dine elsewhere. Otherwise, they give you sizable portions, and the guacamole at this location tastes awesome! Sometimes I find the chips too salty, so if you want, ask for three hard shells instead (it's free!) and use them as chips.
(4)Olivia P.
It's either a coincidence or the food - my friends and I went there for lunch and all 3 of us had an upset stomach the same afternoon / evening. The suffering is not worth the enjoyment of the food! Why 2 stars? Giving it the small benefit of doubt that it's not the food. After all the food tastes decent.
(2)Leslie T.
Filling burritos, lots of flavor, quick meal. You can't go wrong.
(4)Tabitha M.
I love Chipotle's food--it's just everything else I have a problem with. Really, the food is good. I could eat their guacamole and chips all day, every day. This location is always filthy. We're talking napkins and silverware on the floor, food on the tables, constant issues with the restrooms, no matter the time of day or day of the week. Ugh. I shutter thinking about what the kitchen looks like. The staff is generally apathetic (I picked up a large catering recently, and had to carry all of the bags and boxes out to the car myself, without an offer of assistance). The catering food and set up was great, though--nice table tents to label all of the food, chafing dishes, all the serving utensils, sternos AND matches (nice touch) and a small sign with allergen info. And have I mentioned the guacamole and chips? My coworkers were thrilled with the food.

I love chipotle. I just moved here from Chicago, and I am very sad to learn that the chipotle within walking distance of my home is thoroughly disappointing. This is the worst chipotle I've ever been to. I got a salad and the lettuce was frozen. My chicken was cold. The fajita vegetables were raw. And I felt ill for hours after eating there. I gave it two stars because the people who work there are nice. But other than that, this place is a total dud. Disappointed.
(2)Melissah L.
I am so impressed by this Chipotle branch! The food is always top notch, the service is super quick and the restaurant is clean and conveniently located (for me anyway, a UMich student). Good stuff, it doesn't get much better than fresh, fast, delicious fast food!
(4)Rachel G.
I'm a diehard Chipotle fan -- their burrito bowls are a treat I give myself -- but this location has made me think, over and over, that I need to redirect my loyalties, at least for the rest of my time in Ann Arbor. Often a person will disappear in the food-creation chain, or at the cash register, leaving a line waiting for a long period of time (I've waited at least 5 minutes at the cash register, all because somebody was loitering in the back). At times I've been tempted to sneak off with my burrito bowl. I've also encountered cold and crusty rice, steak that was hot pink inside (definitely closer to raw than rare), and food all over the wrapping of my order. Last night, this Chipotle was out of forks. Despite the fact that the staff was clearly aware of this when I asked if the forks could be replenished, I was never warned of this deficiency when I was ordering my for-here burrito bowl. After a while, spoons were restocked in the place of forks, at which point I was able to eat. Nobody bothered to apologize, or even explain. I realize that no restaurant can be perfect, and that for $7, it's not a luxury place, but at the same time, let me pay for my food and also eat it! I don't think that's too much to ask.
(2)Am C.
Chipotle is Chipotle. Which is to say that it's good, fast, and reliable in quality. I think this one had to have been one of the fastest Chipotle locations I've ever been to. I ordered a burrito bowl and they really seemed to load up the bowl, so that's good. This is yet another thing that we don't have in Hawaii, so I will definitely pig out here a couple more times before I leave.
(3)Joyce S.
I love chipotle in general, but this chipotle is extremely busy. The line often takes 20-30 minutes before you have your burrito in hand. I recommend downloading the mobile app or ordering through the website a half hour in advance if you're on a time crunch. The servers are friendly but some seem to be a little stingy on the ingredients.
(3)Henry T.
5 stars because they stuff my burrito to the max. To the point where I'd sometimes struggle to finish it...and believe me, I don't usually struggle to finish my food. The downsides to this place is: if they stuff the burrito too much, often times the tortillas won't wrap completely around it, or partially tear. But I'm kinda okay with that since I get so much Chipotle goodness.
(5)Steve F.
Great food, staff makes you feel a little awkward while ordering, no beer & pop machine was out.
(3)Lisa O.
Still love ya, but ya still have conventional beef...
(4)Michelle K.
I used to think Chipotle was overrated, but they have succeeded in changing my opinion. It was a very filling meal for a decent price, and the service was excellent.
(4)Patrick T.
Not much different from other Chipotles. Would recommend getting the burrito bowl and asking for the tortillas on the side.
(3)Trevor M.
Meh its Chipotle, tastes great but then your stomach is filled with regret
(3)Kristen C.
This was my first time at this particular Chipotle, and it was a good experience overall. The staff were all very friendly and had some Reggae music on, which is always a good vibe. They could have spared a few more beans in my burrito bowl since I wasn't getting meat, but I'm full so I can't complain. Love the hot salsa!
(4)Athena K.
This place could never be five stars because its a shameless chain with no personality, but, that being said, they get props for: GREAT food - I feel like I'm actually going to a taqueria here. Nice to kids - they gave my friend's three year old her own bag of chips and three little dishes of things to dip them in including guac, sour cream, and a fake salsa the guy made on the spot because she wanted salsa but was too young to heat hot stuff (I think he just mixed tomatoes with cilatro and lime). All this for no charge. I wish I was a preschooler and could get free food! Free soda water (for those of us who don't like to pay for pop but still like something fizzy!) And they have clean bathrooms.
(4)Dolan A.
This is the best Chipotle I've ever been to. Staff are friendly, portions are always great, and because they have such a high flow of customers at this location, the turnover of food is fast, so everything is super fresh. These observations are based on many visits over the last two years, where above all, they've been consistent. Highlight of today, the steak was a nice red color, cooked somewhere between medium and medium-rare. Maybe not for everyone, but floats my fancy :) If you don't like Chipotle, then you may not like this one, as it's still a Chipotle. As with other chain places like Starbucks or McDonalds, there are a few locations that step above the rest, and this is one.
(5)Sara G.
Either the tortillas have shrunk to half their size, or the burrito baristas are too enthusiastic with the rice and beans. Lately I find these burritos hard to eat, the ends of the tortilla don't even meet each other and the whole thing just falls apart. Especially if you get yours with beans. Sog. Sigh. That said, Chipotle is my favorite of the Baja-style burrito chains in MI. They use local ingredients and make every effort to use meat that is hormone/antibiotic free and vegetarian fed. Everything is tres' tasty. I just wish they made their own tortillas! Can't be too hard, Panchero's does it. (if only you could combine the two!)
(3)Nik P.
Great fast casual dining. Ample seating and fast service.
(4)S S.
Chipotle - always a delight! I was craving Chipotle for quite a few days and I'm glad I finally got my fill! Erm - not exactly. I got the vegetarian burrito bowl - brown rice, black beans, onions & capsicums, sauces, salsa, sour cream, guacamole and lettuce. The ingredients were fresh and the flavor was top notch. My only problem was the quantity. It was too little of everything. When I don't eat meat, I especially look forward to more veggies then just a couple pieces of onion & capsicum. Chipotle has not disappointed me before and I hope they don't do so in the future either. Please don't be stingy - you don't need to!
(4)Caitlin B.
This Chipotle is usually lightning fast and was my go-to option when I didn't have time to go home for lunch or dinner. Almost every time, my burrito was packed to the brim and delicious. Don't forget to ask for the fajita vegetables!
(5)Jacob M.
The burritos were small, the floor was dirty, and the staff was in no hurry. Overall a bad impression, especially because it was a Friday night when they should be on their A game... One of he worst chipotles I've been in for a long time...
(2)Harrison L.
Just like any other Chipotle. Pretty good burritos with a clean taste.
(3)Justin Y.
Fresh ingredients is what separates this burrito joint from all the others on campus. It might be more expensive than the other burrito joints, but it is worth the higher quality meats and ingredients. I always get the steak at Chipotle. They cook it medium-rare to medium and it is juicy with lots of beef flavor. I love the lime-cilantro rice too. The Guacamole is clearly fresh and, unlike a lot of other places on campus, is mostly avocado. And make your burrito fajita style.
(4)Jared W.
Maybe it was what I got but I did not like this food at all. I would be willing to give it one more shot.
(2)Jonas L.
Hey, I was wrong. This place did survive. It's doing quite well, in fact. After further review, I see their niche, compared to BTB. BTB burritos are larger, but Chopotle use better ingredients. Their carnitas are especially tasty. Their operations have gotten more efficient, and now, this is at least another solid option to have around campus. A bit expensive for lunch, but not too bad.
(3)BChizzle C.
They're doing much better on the skimpy portions front - thanks, guys!
(4)Nick P.
First, I think Chipotle just tastes better than BTB. Second, the chicken and the pork are naturally-raised, and Chipotle is very transparent about what that means, their suppliers, etc. And the meat tastes awesome. I've never thought these burritos were small, service has always been quick. Yes, there are better burritos in California and other places, but for my money, this is the best $6.31 meal in Ann Arbor.
(5)Lauren D.
Good Guac, Good hot sauce, good burritos! This place needs to be open later though.
(4)Tina W.
I was so excited when this finally opened up on campus. For someone that loves the tortillas, I'm sad that Chipotle's aren't as good as Panchero's. But the meat here tastes so much better.
(4)Ivan Z.
Expensive and not that quick, but very very good. Sure, I don't like shelling out $7 for a burrito either. But the barbacoa is excellent, and I haven't found anyplace in town with something similar. BTB is a couple dollars cheaper, but it's also dry and flavorless. Chipotle is much better. Advice: arrive around 11 PM, and watch as the person working the counter loads your burrito up with tasty meat they need to get rid of before close.
(4)Ronny E.
I believe that chipotle is just riding on it's hype. I agree that they are much smaller than BTB and much more expensive ($6-7). The prices have risen so much at Chipotle that it's simply not worth it. BTB has much better food and more variety, give it a try!
